Get real users with your App Store and Google Play codes.

Free for developersFree for users

Every Friday from 27 November, people claim free codes here, one per person. It works for paid apps and for free apps with a Pro plan, a subscription or a one-time unlock. Your store price stays the same.

  • We never ask your users for reviews.
  • Built against bots: codes never appear on a public page, and each one goes to one signed-in person.
  • Works the same on the App Store and Google Play.

The first users are the hard part

A new app starts at zero. No downloads, no ratings, and ads cost more than the app earns in its first months.

Promo codes cost you nothing to make, and both stores let you share them. A drop gives yours to people who want paid apps and pick yours on purpose. What you get:

  • Real people using your premium features in your first week, on iPhone and Android.
  • Feedback when you ask for it, in your app or by email. Never a review.
  • No sale: your store price stays the same.

A drop works best when you share your drop link with your own followers too. The people it brings also see the other apps in that drop, and the other developers' links bring their followers to yours. Your report shows how many people your link brought.

Where your codes end up

If you have ever posted promo codes on Reddit or X, you know how it goes. They are gone in a couple of minutes, and you have no idea who took them.

Here, each code goes to one signed-in person, after a bot check, and only in the countries you pick. You see how many were claimed, and where.

The first 100 developers

Drops are free for every developer. The first 100 developers to confirm their spot also get this:

An app page that stays up for 12 months after your last drop (3 months for other apps), with your story and a link to your website.
The Founding Indie badge on your app page and your drops.
One free featured spot in our newsletter.
Personal help setting up your first drop.
3 months of PricePush Pro free, if you want to try it. It renews at the normal price unless you cancel.

Keep your spot by adding an app before Drop #003. We can remove a page for abuse, or if the app leaves the store. Full rules in the Terms.

How it works

1

Join the list

Add your App Store link, your Google Play link, or both.

2

Add your app

We'll email you when app submission opens. Choose what the code unlocks, how many codes and which countries. Verify that the app is yours. Add it by the Tuesday before the Friday you want. If that Friday is full, we offer you the next one.

3

Add your codes

Upload a CSV of codes for either store.

4

Go live on a Friday

Your drop opens at 15:00 UTC. You get a link to your drop page to share with your followers, an image for social posts, and a report on how many codes were claimed, on which store and in which countries.

Never made codes before? It takes a few minutes in your store account: Apple offer codes and Google Play promo codes, step by step.

Spots in Drop #001 are limited. Add your app by Tuesday 24 November

How drops stay within App Store and Google Play rules

Official store codes

Every code is an App Store offer code or a Google Play promo code that you create yourself. Both stores let you share these codes outside the store.

We never ask your users for reviews

Nobody is asked to rate or review your app, and no drop can require a review. Apple and Google can remove developer accounts over rewarded reviews, so we keep reviews out completely.

Built against bots

Codes never appear on a public page. Each one is shown only to the signed-in person who claims it. Every account gets one code per app in a drop, with rate limits and a bot check.

You choose how many and where

You pick how many codes go out and which countries can claim them. Your price in the store doesn't change.

What we stand for

We help you get your first users without putting your developer account at risk: only the stores' own codes, never paid installs, never rewards for reviews.

Dropping your app is free, and so is claiming. You bring the codes; we bring people who want your app and keep the bots out.

I'm Antonio. I've made apps for 13 years, and the first users were always the hardest part. Ads cost more than a new app earns. The shortcuts people sell, like bought installs and review swaps, can get a developer account closed.

Giving away my own codes was the honest option, and you can post codes in a few places already. I built this one the way I wanted it as a developer:

  • Nobody is ever asked for a review, so a drop never puts your developer account at risk.
  • You decide how many codes go out, and in which countries.
  • Each code goes to one signed-in person who picked your app, after a bot check. No scripts emptying your batch in a minute.
  • The emails of the people who claim stay private.
  • iPhone and Android in the same drop.

Questions

What does it cost?

Nothing. Dropping your app is free, and so is claiming. I built this and PricePush, my pricing tool, for my own apps first, and opened both to developers like me. What pays for the site: some developers who drop here try PricePush, and some of our emails carry a sponsor spot, always marked. Neither ever decides which apps get into a drop.

My app is free, with a Pro plan or a subscription. Does it count?

Yes. Most drops will be free apps with a paid unlock inside. Paid apps work too.

Which codes can I give away?

Free offers only: a lifetime unlock, free months of a subscription, or your paid app for free. On the App Store you can give 1, 3 or 12 months free. On Google Play you can give 1 or 3, because its subscription codes give at most 90 days. For subscriptions, people see that the plan renews at your normal price unless they cancel.

How many codes can I make?

Each store sets its own limits. Apple: a paid app gets 100 promo codes per app version, and each one works for 4 weeks, so make them in the week of your drop. In-app purchases and subscriptions use offer codes, up to 1 million per app per quarter, and one-time codes last up to 6 months. Google Play: 500 codes per quarter for a paid app and its one-time products together, and 10,000 per quarter for each subscription.

How many people will see my drop?

We're new, and the list is still growing, so I won't make up a number. Founding Indies launch with me: I help each one set up the drop, and every drop goes to the whole list in the Friday email. Once the number is worth showing, we'll show how many people have signed up, right here.

Why a weekly drop?

So you don't launch alone. Every developer in a drop shares their link on the same Friday, and people who come for one app see the others. You also get a date to announce, and the Friday email to the whole list.

How many apps are in each drop?

It changes from week to week, and I check every app. Spots in each Friday are limited. If the Friday you want is full, we offer you the next one with a free spot.

How often can my app drop?

One drop is a complete launch. Come back for another Friday whenever you have new codes, as often as every week.

How many codes should I give?

At least 25 for each store in your drop, and we suggest about 100. A drop that runs out in a minute looks empty to the people who come for it.

How long does my drop stay open?

Until the next Friday's drop opens at 15:00 UTC, or until your codes run out. That's at most one week.

What happens to codes nobody claims?

When your drop ends, the codes left are paused, and we ask you whether to use them in next Friday's drop. If you say no, they stay yours to use anywhere else. We never move your codes into another developer's drop, and we never hand out a code that expires within 7 days.

Which apps do you accept?

Any app in the App Store or Google Play that was updated in the last 6 months, with a paid part that does something real. A person checks every app. We don't take real-money gambling, adult content, dating apps, crypto trading or earn-money apps, VPNs or apps that hide or change your location, or apps that track other people or need their accounts. A Pro plan that only removes a banner isn't enough.

Do I need PricePush?

No. You upload codes yourself for both stores, as a CSV file. Connecting PricePush is the fastest way to show that the app is yours.

How do you check that the app is mine?

Once, before your first drop. There are three ways, and you pick one:1. Connect PricePush, if you already use it.2. Add a small DNS record, or a file, to the website your store listing links to.3. Enter a code we email to the developer address on your store listing.

Who sees my codes?

Only the person who claims each one. Codes are stored encrypted and never appear on a public page, in a list or in our emails.

Can a drop bring a spike of installs?

Yes, if your drop is popular. These are real people redeeming your own codes in the store. You set the size with the number of codes and the countries you choose.

Isn't a free code an incentivized install?

No. Google calls an install incentivized when someone gets money, goods or similar in exchange for it. Here the code is your app itself, and nobody gets anything for installing, rating or reviewing. It also matters which codes: Apple doesn't let apps unlock paid features with their own license keys or codes (rule 3.1.1), and on Google Play paid content inside an app goes through Google Play's billing. Apple offer codes and Google Play promo codes are the stores' own way to give paid content away, so drops use only those. Our manifesto explains the rest.

Do I get the emails of people who claim?

No. We don't share people's emails with developers. You see how many codes were claimed, on which store and in which countries. To hear from the people who claimed, ask for feedback inside your app.

Does the report show how many codes were redeemed?

No. People redeem their code in the App Store or Google Play, and the stores don't tell us. Our report counts claims: codes that a person took here. Your store account shows what happened after that.
